| Patricia studied calligraphy with Ann Camp at Roehampton Institute. She was elected a Fellow of the Society of Scribes and Illuminators in 1998. She has been working to commission and teaching the craft since 1984 and is the author and designer of Handwriting: Everyone’s Art - Making Journals and Designing Posters (The Edward Johnston Foundation 1999). She has completed a series of 44 botanical illustrations for greetings card and bookmark designs and produced hand-drawn maps for The History of the Royal Navy by NAM Rodger (HarperCollins 1997). Her work was included in The Calligrapher’s Project Book and Practical Calligraphy (Hamlyn 1991). Commissions include work for The College of Arms, St Paul's Cathedral, British Museum, The Hahnemann Academy of Homeopathy, Japan, Council for the Protection of Rural England, BBC Television, HarperCollins, Italian Chamber of Commerce, The Worshipful Company of Founders,The Worshipful Company of Armourers & Braziers & York University. She was a co-founder of the Edward Johnston Foundation. |

| Gerald Fleuss worked for a time for the lettercarver David Kindersley before studying calligraphy and bookbinding full-time at Roehampton Institute, returning to teach there for the next ten years. He was elected a Fellow of the Society of Scribes and Illuminators in 1982, a member of the Art Workers’ Guild in 1983 and a member of the Double Crown Club in 2008. He served as Honorary Designer of the Wynkyn de Worde Society for 1998.

As further evidence of this emphasis, Calligraphy and Design is comprised entirely of artist/designers with international reputations within their various disciplines. Their work is included in public collections at the Victoria & Albert Museum, London and Harvard University, USA. and has been shown in exhibitions in London (Cork Street Gallery, Wolseley Fine Arts & St. Paul’s Cathedral), Minneapolis, Washington and Bruges.
